What a Hyperliquid trade actually costs.

0.045% to take, 0.015% to make, plus the 0.01% builder fee that pays for this terminal — charged on top, approved by you on-chain, and nothing unless you trade.

The short answer

Hyperliquid charges 0.045% to take and 0.015% to make at the base tier. Orders routed through WatchCrypto carry an additional 0.01% builder fee, which is how this terminal is paid for. Nothing is charged unless you trade.

Hyperliquid's own fees

OrderBase rateWhat it means
Taker0.045%You crossed the spread — a market order, or a limit order that filled immediately.
Maker0.015%Your order rested in the book and someone else traded against it.

Trading itself is gas-free: there is no network fee on orders, cancels or fills. You pay gas only on the chain you deposit from or withdraw to.

Perpetuals: the volume tiers

Your tier is set by your rolling 14-day volume, assessed at the end of each day in UTC. Spot volume counts double: 14-day weighted volume = perps volume + 2 × spot volume.

Tier14-day weighted volumeTakerMaker
0Under $5M0.045%0.015%
1Over $5M0.040%0.012%
2Over $25M0.035%0.008%
3Over $100M0.030%0.004%
4Over $500M0.028%0.000%
5Over $2B0.026%0.000%
6Over $7B0.024%0.000%

Accounts that provide a large share of all maker volume earn a rebate instead of paying: −0.001% above 0.5% of 14-day maker volume, −0.002% above 1.5%, and −0.003% above 3%. Rebates are paid to the trading wallet on each fill.

Discounts: staking HYPE and referrals

Staking tierHYPE stakedDiscount

SilverOver 1,00015%
GoldOver 10,00020%
PlatinumOver 100,00030%
DiamondOver 500,00040%

The staking discount applies on top of your volume tier: at the base tier with Gold staking, taker drops from 0.045% to 0.036%. A referral code gives a further 4% off your first $25M of volume.

Spot fees

Spot trades have their own, higher schedule: 0.070% taker and 0.040% maker at the base tier, falling to 0.025% taker and 0% maker for the largest accounts. One fee tier covers everything you trade, perps and spot alike, so spot volume moves you down the perps table too.

The WatchCrypto builder fee

WatchCrypto has no subscription, no ads, and does not sell your data. It is paid by a builder fee — a native Hyperliquid mechanism that attaches a fee to orders routed through a given interface.

Two things about it are worth stating plainly, because they are the two people get wrong:

Hyperliquid itself caps what any interface can charge: at most 0.1% on perps and 1% on spot. The approval must be signed by your main wallet, not a trading key, you can hold up to ten builder approvals at once, and you can revoke any of them at any time.

A real trade, itemised

An actual fill routed through this terminal — 0.0276 BTC at 77,342, a notional of $2,134.64 — at today's rates:

ComponentRateCost
Hyperliquid taker fee0.045%$0.96
WatchCrypto builder fee0.01%$0.21
Total0.055%$1.17

The fill was made while our fee was still 0.1%: Hyperliquid reported fee: 3.095226, of which builderFee: 2.134639 was ours, so its own fee was the $0.96 above. At 0.01% the builder fee on the same trade is $0.21.

Bulk

On Bulk, orders routed through WatchCrypto carry a 0.01% builder code, approved with the same single signature that authorises trading. Bulk's own trading fees are set by Bulk and can change, so check their documentation rather than taking a number from us.

Frequently asked questions

What are Hyperliquid trading fees?

At the base tier Hyperliquid charges 0.045% to take liquidity and 0.015% to make it. Six volume tiers above the base rate reduce those rates as your 14-day volume grows, and referral and HYPE-staking discounts apply separately.

What is a builder fee?

A native Hyperliquid mechanism that attaches a fee to orders routed through a given interface. WatchCrypto’s is 0.01%. You approve it on-chain with your own wallet before your first order, and it is a cap rather than a charge — nothing is taken unless you trade.

Is the builder fee taken out of Hyperliquid’s fee?

No. It is charged on top. A taker pays 0.045% to Hyperliquid plus 0.01% to the builder, so 0.055% in total. It is not a revenue share.

What does a trade cost in practice?

On a $2,134.64 notional BTC trade: $0.96 to Hyperliquid and $0.21 as the builder fee, $1.17 in total.

Does WatchCrypto charge a subscription?

No. Charts, order books, the trade tape, indicators and alerts are free and need no account. The builder fee on trades is the only revenue.

How do I pay lower fees?

Use limit orders that rest in the book — maker is 0.015% against taker’s 0.045%. Higher 14-day volume moves you down Hyperliquid’s six tiers. And size deliberately: fees are charged on notional, so leverage multiplies them.

Does Hyperliquid charge gas fees?

No. Trading on Hyperliquid is gas-free. You only pay network gas on the chain you deposit from or withdraw to.

What are Hyperliquid spot trading fees?

0.070% taker and 0.040% maker at the base tier, falling to 0.025% taker and 0% maker for the largest accounts.

How do I get a discount on Hyperliquid fees?

Three ways: trade more (seven volume tiers on 14-day volume), stake HYPE (5% off above 10 HYPE, up to 40% above 500,000), or use a referral code (4% off your first $25M of volume).

What is the maximum builder fee on Hyperliquid?

Hyperliquid caps builder fees at 0.1% on perps and 1% on spot. You approve a maximum per interface with your main wallet and can revoke it at any time.
