Which limit you hit first

In practice it is almost always one chart and two indicators, and they bite in a specific order:

None of these are bugs. They are the shape of a free tier for a product that sells subscriptions, and TradingView is transparent about them.

What a crypto trader is usually missing

The tier limits are the visible half. The other half is that TradingView is a charting platform, not an exchange terminal, so some things are not on any tier:

Where TradingView is still the right answer

Worth being straight about this, because most comparison pages are not:

If you script your own indicators, pay for it. The subscription is worth it for that alone.

What WatchCrypto does differently

WatchCrypto is a crypto terminal rather than a charting platform, and it is free — not a free tier:

The honest trade: no Pine Script, no equities, and a smaller drawing toolset. The full side-by-side is here.

Can you use both?

Most people should. Chart and script in TradingView; keep a terminal open for the book, the tape and execution. They are not really competing for the same job — it is only the free tier's limits that make it feel that way.

Frequently asked questions

Is TradingView free?

There is a free tier called Basic. It allows one chart per tab, one saved chart layout, two indicators per chart and 5,000 bars of history. Paid tiers start at $12.95 a month on annual billing.

How many indicators can you have on TradingView for free?

Two per chart on the Basic tier. Essential raises it to five, Plus to ten and Premium to twenty-five.

How many charts can you open on TradingView for free?

One per tab, and one saved layout. Essential allows two charts per tab, Plus four and Premium eight.

What does TradingView cost?

On annual billing: Essential $12.95 a month, Plus $29.95, Premium $59.95, Ultimate $199.95. Monthly billing costs more. Prices read from tradingview.com/pricing on 13 September 2026.

Does TradingView show a live order book?

No. TradingView charts what has traded. An order book — the resting bids and asks — is an exchange feature, and it is not part of any TradingView tier.

What is a free alternative for crypto specifically?

WatchCrypto is a free crypto terminal: charts, live order books, trade tape and a screener with no account required, plus multi-pane layouts and second-resolution candles. It has no Pine Script and no equities, so many traders keep both.
